I just finished listening to Episode 60 of World of Warcast (Don’t bother clicking the link, they don’t update their blog anyway) and I’m actually pretty disappointed and since I don’t particularly want to leave them a Skype message and giving the show a 1-star rating on iTunes seems fairly pointless I may as well use this as an excuse to waste some time posting.
Over the last few weeks the show has been pretty informative - the usefulness of said information obviously varies as not everyone loves Reputation grinding and every podcast and their Turpster has already covered Dailies - and the single reason I even really listen to the Podcast was that a few shows ago they started a feature called a “Class Round Table” which was basically a gathering of a specific class - last time druids (unfortunately it almost totally feral talk).
This was a really interesting thing to listen to because hearing other people’s gripes in a context that isn’t the Official forums is actually pretty eye opening. Of course, it doesn’t change the fact that they’re only true Hybrid class and it’s obscenely … Irritating … especially since my main (a Shaman) has been grossly neglected by Blizzard in this sense.
However, since they did this first round table they have completely failed to do another and if I have to wait over a month for each one there is no way I’m going to listen for a year just to hear a bunch of Resto Shaman complain about their charge reductions. Today their excuse was that their were timetable conflicts but come on!
You can prerecord it at a time more sensible for your guests! Your time problems will fade away … This is a particularly irritating complaint since having just listened to How I WoW and the 1UP podcast, both used pre-recorded interviews and were informative and entertaining.
Not only was this most recennt cast a complete drag - where nothing of any particular merit was discussed (Hello? Massive Wrath details hit the net >_>) - but they also grossly insulted my style of play and more particularly my Alt guild (now my Main guild I guess) the Disciples of Arthas.
To paraphrase:
- Don’t join lowbie Guilds.
- Especially don’t join lowbie Guilds that advertise having a Tabard.
- Lowbie guilds are only interested in having members - nothing else
And other such garbage. The male co-host said himself that he is tiring of end-game since Wrath is incoming. It is precisely now that small leveling Guilds will be their most useful! I put together DoA probably over a year ago now purely for the sake of having a tabard on my alts and a place for all of them (and my friend’s alts) to go.
Since I left my long-time raiding Guild due to them being complete ass-holes to me I’ve found that I am enjoying WoW a lot more playing my chars amongst friends and new lower level players. We offer not only Guild power-runs but also regular group runs and everyone is friendly. Since I am a serial alt’er I was able to put probably thousands of gold worth of lower level mats, items and recipes into our Guild bank to help people get off their feet.
Oh, and we give people a free Tabard.
One thing that really grinds my gears about their Tabard comments are that it’s the first thing I get asked by anyone interested in joining. So why wouldn’t I advertise we have one? … And a good one at that.
Clearly, Renata and Starman would hate us. How dare we facilitate the easier leveling and gearing of newer players.
That’s enough of a gripe about them, they did remind me of one thing that was positive though when Starman mentioned coming across a old picture of his and a friends characters and said it was like staring at a photograph of when you were a child … And so I offer you:
- Dalthu at 60‘ish (Pre-Raid Gear)
- Dreadmoore at 29 (Twink)
Regards,
JamesR
For the record Renata, Shaman dual-wield to. And more to the point, this MH/OH -> One-hand weapon change will positively affect us far far more than any other class.
A Enhancement Shaman effectively HAS to wield weapons of 2.6 Speed or higher (and if you’re an Orc basically has to be Axes). Now find out how many there are outside of Raiding <_<
Oh … And no swords either.
