Letdowns and Frowns
James Reynolds | January 14, 2008Yesterday I posted my disappointment in Crysis and World in Conflict over on WSAG and talked about how the majority of big selling PC titles these days are just huge piles of crap.
Recently Xbox Elite also posted up their somewhat … controversial … Call of Duty 4 review (such because of the meager 5/10 Multiplayer score for one of the best Multiplayer games of the year) and my Dynasty Warriors Gundam review went live. Yeah, it’s not a great review … I tried not to echo my Warriors Orochi review too much … But getting 1,000 words out of that game was harder than drawing blood from the proverbial stone.
I feel compelled to comment on my re-entry to WoW because I feel like i’m really rather missing the point: You have to raid. And yet I’ve passed up half a dozen raid invites already, instead I log on and do my daily Qs and then muck around on alts and such.
I’ve put this down primarily to my coursework/exam deadlines looming, I suppose I should honestly not be playing it at all.
That isn’t really an option.
Meh, I’m just rambling now … Putting off going to sleep because I know getting up in the morning is going to be really unpleasant. It’s got to be done.
Do I take my (heavy) laptop in tomorrow? That way I can play WoW … or not … HmmmmmmmMMMmmmmmm I think not. I’ll just drink and eat junk food like usual.
Regards,
James

Haha, I know that feeling.
Hi James,
I just read your comments about World in Conflict with interest and I’m quite surprised you thought it was a “let down” – there are two aspects to WiC i.e. the Single player and Multiplayer aspect of the game. I’m not sure if you have tired out the MP side of the game but it would make interesting reading if you could post about your experience with it
Most gamers I’ve spoken to about WiC usually find it difficult to get into but once they understand what they have to do, they usually have a good experience with it. Also, WiC has a huge following with pro-gamers and teams. The game is one of the major CPL titles for 2007-08.

I played the first hour or so of the singleplayer campaign and didn’t play any of the multiplayer. There aren’t actually many strategy games i’m confident enough in to take into a versus role – the main ones being Warcraft/Starcraft.
I ’settled’ into WiC pretty quickly because there was so little to do and the following in pro-circuits is probably down to nothing more than the fact good strategy games are so hard to come by – so the first adequate title will probably suffice.
I’ll put a few online games on my to-do list, i’m always open to trying it …
