So I saw Saw IV on Saturday, it was pretty much what you’d expect. Lots of gore and such, but I found that it was pretty diluted and poorly spaced. Otherwise, it is still a series on form.

Been playing a lot of Team Fortress 2 now that the patch is out, it is a lot of fun, but I can’t help but feel they didn’t really tune it for console play, which is a shame. I play my best as a Sniper, but I actually quite enjoy Pyro, Engineer and Spy all in equal measures.

Otherwise I haven’t been up to much, started penning that Warriors Orochi review for Xbox Elite but was interrupted for some TF2. I’m already going to be knackered waking up in just over 7 hours, so i’m going to sleep now.

Regards and lol,
James.

Updatery – 27/10/2007

James Reynolds | October 27, 2007

I went from productive on Wednesday, to camping out in my room for two days with the lovely Leslie.

Highlights of the two days:

  • Domino’s Pizza twice
  • Lots of terrible TV
  • 51st State (She hadn’t seen in)
  • and much much more!

Last night my father boasted a new Mobile, and I mentioned to him that mine was a bit tattered, so if he could acquire a new cheap one, i’d be interested in it.

Instead, he gave me his near-mint 6300 that he was replacing. Its a nice phone and i’ve already piled all my old ringtone favourites, plus the Portal song and the full Hell March from Red Alert.

Happy days.

I’d quite like to go see Saw IV, and to a lesser extent ResiEvil: Extinction but I think i’ve blown any semblence of a budget I had already. So i’ll wait untill tuesday/wednesday next week instead.

PC Gamer wrote a review this month on Hellgate: London. This is a game initially I was looking forward to, but it didn’t take long for me to completely change my mind. As soon as they brought in Subscription vs Free, they had totally sold out of the Diablo-Battle.net ethos.

PC Gamer shocked me with a frontpage line reading:
“Hellgate London; More addictive than World of Warcraft.”

Now that is a fucking boast and a half! And yet, they only gave it a 73% (Compared to WoW’s 90~%+). Needless to say, Hellgate is one game i’m not jumping for joy to get. If they release a 360 version … I might dabble, but i’ve learned my lesson about dipping.

Anyway, theres now word of a 360 Port, but it is “Games for Windows” so who knows …

Regards,
James.

Ps. Topless Hellgate Woman is … impressive, but such a god awful publicity stunt.

James 6 – ET 3 (DQ)

James Reynolds | October 25, 2007

So how have you all been?No Alt-Text snipes today. For now. Good I hope.

Been a fairly active few days for me, I finally got my copy of Warriors Orochi through (14 days late I think) so I can start playing it for my Xbox Elite review.

Its good enough, but it doesn’t really have any place on a next gen console.

Recently i’ve also seen “The Kingdom” and Blacksheep. The prior was surprisingly good (not a Jennifer Garner fan) but Blacksheep … well … it was unique. I’ll give it that.

I’ll probably scribble up reviews for them on WSAG just to pad it out a bit.

I’m also finally get around to sorting out some ID so I can go drinking on my 20th. Won’t that be fun? Huzzahs! Presuming theres no problems with my (obscenely expensive) Passport application anyway.

Regards entail.

Be sure to check out the lengthy Orange Box review on WSAG.

It occurs to me that trying to write something with no pre-planned material is actually rather difficult. I haven’t really done much in the last few days to warrant it.

Oh actually, last night on James.ET.net I stuck some links on the front page to my first sets of databases and relational things. Its nothing terribly complex, but i’m learning it off a bleeding website! >_>

When I get a little while i’ll sit down and code out all the databases & the construct files for what I want, then start to think about the actual website design. I’ll probably go to the University and use their Dreamweaver (Because it’ll kill my laptop) which I am also not terribly familiar with.

Then no doubt i’ll rip off somebody else’s website :P ie. I Quite like The Escapist’s Website, but we could never churn out enough content to keep it busy.

Since I finished my last book quite recently, I haven’t decided what to read next. I have got two books on the agenda: Richard Dawkin’s “The God Delusion” and Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged”.

Hmmm. This calls for a poll!

Regards,
James.
